OSU Bomb Threat – Four Ohio State Buildings on Lockdown

COLUMBUS, OHIO (LALATE) – An OSU bomb threat has put four Ohio State University buildings on lockdown. The OSU’s bomb threat prompted lockdown today of William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library, McPherson, Scott and Smith laboratories; the lockdown will remain place until tonight, say officials. The FBI and Columbus Division of Fire are aiding in the investigation.

The rest of the OSU campus is open.

University police Chief Paul Denton in news briefing today said “There have been no suspicious package or devices found at this time…. This is still in our assessment a threat.” The alert was triggered shortly after 8 am local time today. But campus police would not confirm what prompted the bomb threat.

In September, Colton Tooley, 19, started randomly shooting on the UT campus near the intersection of 21st and Speedway. On October 28, a false alert prompted a lockdown of the Texas A&M campus. ”University officials believe the basis for the report was an individual who had in his possession a ‘dummy’ rifle — a replica,” said an A&M news statement at the time.
