Unemployment Extensions Paid for or Not

The latest word on the plight of the nations long-term unemployed regarding their lifeline doled out in weekly increments, unemployment extension checks became the subject on Capitol Hill yesterday however, it would appear to be more of the same old thing.

Reports are out that Senator Baucus would like to introduce a bill extending the ‘extension’ as the House is pushing to have their version of the latest extension tacked onto legislation geared towards saitifiying the party that caused this mess, the Republicans. Nevertheless, neither of the bills will move anywhere further than the paper they are written on as long as the Republicans insist the measure is paid for.

Now, all that is commendable however, the real reason behind the Republican Party play is to force members of congress to spend monies from a Stimulus Plan that no longer can provide further funding, the money is spent!

The fact that the Republicans refuse to reuse recaptured TARP monies is as appalling to anyone that has ever paid a dime into the federal coffers. The TARP monies were created by a Republican administration, totally unpaid for and shoved off on the middle-income taxpayers during another “do or die” rally call by the same group that led us into a war with Iraq over non-existent WMD’s.

The facts are simple, the Republican Party could care less that you, me, or anyone else making less than $1 million per year winds up out on the streets due to their jobs being shipped overseas as repayment to foreign investors backing the GOP campaigns.

The next “fact” is simple, if the Republicans want to have the unemployment extension inclusive of, a Tier ‘V’ paid for, the monies are available via these recaptured TARP monies, TAXPAYER’s monies, not Republican funds for their rich friends monies, monies that are taken from payroll taxes every day.

The Stimulus funds have been allocated, the monies are unavailable, not one Republican can point to this fund, and say, ah there is the cash!

The bottom-line to the long-term unemployed is the Senate must work quickly on this measure while not simply placing Senator Stabenow’s ‘American’s Want to Act’ on the backburner simply due to it may not be as popular as the Republican Party alternative of creating millions of starving, homeless children across this nation.

If the Senate can manage to muster up the 60 votes necessary to pass a bill helping this nations long-term unemployed, the bill should not reach any opposition in the House as the votes as of this time, remain in favor of Americas working class, in the hands of the Democrats.

To date, neither party has publically disclosed their plans to avert a disaster in this nation only witnessed in the third world, and time is running out.
