Most Wonderful Time for Citrix

All those mobile computing devices flying off of the shelves at Best Buy this weekend: Citrix Public Sector boss Tom Simmons loves 'em. Because someday, some government official is going to want them for their agency, and Citrix is going to be the one to put a secure Windows desktop on them.
We met Tom at his Bethesda office, where he tells us Citrix is all about virtualization, a shift Tom compares to the old days of mainframe computing. Citrix tries to be device agnostic, so the push of different mobile computing platforms just gives them another place to do their thing. Tom also tells us Citrix is involved with helping the government downsize its data centers and go green. It's the founding sponsor of Power IT Down Day, an annual event that encourages turning off computers (and peripherals) before going home. More than 17,600 people signed up this year, two thirds of them from government.
