The Leonid Meteor Shower 2010 returns tonight; the best time to see the Leonid Meteor Shower is within just a few hours. Experts tells news that the peak time will be before roughly 5:15 am. Other experts contend the ideal timewill be between the hours of 3 and 4 am. You should look eastward. There you will see upwards of 20 meteors per hour. If tonight is anything like 2009, expect a marvel in the sky.
“From the time of moonset until around 5:15 a.m. when the first streaks of dawn begin to appear in the east the sky will be dark and moonless,” writes Joe Rao, Space.com skywatching columnist today. “That interval will provide you with your best opportunity to see any Leonid meteors.”
Generally, you can see as many as 15 to 30 meteors per hour in America, several hundred per hour over Asia.
The Leonid Meteor Shower happens every mid November, generally around the 17th and 18th. There are few meteor sightings annually that are as predictable, impressive, and easy to watch. Expert advised readers to get away from city lights to see the best show. But in 2009, LALATE was able to see a great display in a densely populated area.
