
The Latin Grammys 2010 were held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV, last night. This was the 11th annual Latin Grammys award show celebrating the Latin musical culture with many performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches. The winner for Record of the Year went to Camila, for their album, “Mientes.” The other categories went like this:
Album of the Year – “A Son de Guerra” by Juan Luis Guerra
Song of the Year – “Mientes” by Camila
Best New Artist – Alex Cuba
Best Female Pop Vocal Album – “Mi Plan” by Nelly Furtado
Best Male Pop Vocal Album – “Paraiso Express” by Alejandro Sanz
According to toppayingideas.com, “The Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year award went to opera legend Placido Domingo, who upon receiving the award from Ricky Martin said: ‘This fills me with happiness and emotion.’”
Nelly Furtado is a Canadian born musician, but she comes from Portuguese descent. She’s always wanted to do a spanish album and finally made it happen this past year.
